Weapons of Righteousness

Sword

Romans 6:13-14 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

The moment that you were born again into the family of God, you were granted eternal life. But that is just the beginning of your faith journey. God's plan involves your members being yielded to Him.

This verse carries a great deal of motivation and fervor behind it. "Members" is in reference to your body, and the word "instruments" has a particular emphasis in it's definition. Strong's Greek Concordance defines it as, "an implement or tool, especially, offensive for war." Now notice the verse again.

"Yield yourselves unto God... and your body as a weapon of righteousness unto God."

Of course, we recognize that the Sword of the Lord is His living Word, but have you ever considered yourself as part of God's holy arsenal? In doing combat with the enemies of Heaven, He is looking for a believer that He would have total control, a soldier that He will empower for combat.

We're taught to resist the devil. This is how. We need only to yield in repentance to the omnipotence of the Great I Am and allow Him to spread light and revival through His humble servant. Every little decision you make today matters. Each moment we will yield to either righteousness or sin. When we've humbled ourselves, sought His face, and turned from our wicked ways, then He will go about vanquishing darkness. But He will only do so with a weapon of righteousness.
