A Faithful Companion

"It's just you and me against the world!" You ever said that to a friend or spouse? It can bolster our confidence to know that we have a companion. Recently, my family was robbed and it seemed that we couldn't get much help from the bank, local police, or FTC. We felt extraordinarily neglected by those who are meant to defend us, but I can say that I saw my wife continuously turn to the Lord in Scripture, song, and prayer, and we knew that we were not alone. Yes, we had each other, but most importantly, we remembered, among several Scriptures, the promise of Romans 8:

What shall we then say to these things?

If God be for us, who can be against us?

The Lord is a good God, and will fight on your behalf. Jesus is called your Advocate - your defense Attorney! Even when life's stresses require that we use a human defense attorney to represent our case, just remember that standing between you and the fiercest fiery trials is the meek and mighty Jesus Christ. He defends you. He intercedes for you. He delivers you. Because He loves you.

Consider these 5 EPIC statements of Scripture.

"The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?"
"And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the Lord, to deliver thee."
"Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world."
"But the Lord is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail"
"No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper"

There's coming a day when you'll feel abandoned. It may be today. Maybe tomorrow. Remember that Jesus has been there - forsaken by everyone. Take to the Scriptures. Fortify your faith. And know that Jesus is there to say, "It's just you and Me against the world."
